Materials for Data-Center Liquid Cooling

Case Overview

A data-center liquid-cooling integrator building CDUs (coolant distribution units) and immersion-cooling tanks was losing yield through leak-test failures after coil bending. Tube-wall variation from the previous supplier created thin spots that cracked during forming. Rack-level cooling is critical: one leaking coil can shut down an entire cooling loop.

DZX qualified with coil and header tubing offering tight wall tolerances, clean internal surfaces and leak-test support, improving coil assembly yield and restoring the integrator’s delivery schedule.

This case summarizes the application requirements, materials supplied by DZX and delivery value. For case-specific technical data, please contact our engineering team.

Our Solution

The integrator’s coil assembly line faced three material-related problems:

  • Bending cracks: wall-thickness variation created thin spots that cracked during coil bending, causing assembly-stage leak-test failures.
  • Internal cleanliness: residue inside tubes contaminated the cooling loop, threatening long-term liquid-cooling reliability.
  • Header integrity: header tubing needed consistent diameters to prevent leak paths in brazed and welded joints.
Liquid-cooling coil for data-center cooling systems

DZX aligned tube supply with the integrator’s leak-testing process:

Coils were supplied with tight wall tolerances and clean, residue-free internal surfaces for reliable bending and leak-free assembly. Consistent header diameters supported brazed and welded joints; copper strip covered cold-plate and vapor-chamber requirements. Each batch included dimensions, wall-thickness and cleanliness documentation supporting the integrator’s leak-test records.
