Inconel high-temperature alloy

Inconel is a high-performance nickel-based superalloy known for its exceptional resistance to high temperatures, oxidation and corrosion. The alloy is primarily composed of nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr) and iron (Fe), making it indispensable in extreme conditions such as high temperatures, pressures and aggressive chemical environments. Unlike ordinary steel, although the melting point of steel may be higher than that of nickel, it will quickly lose strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures; nickel-chromium iron alloys can still maintain excellent mechanical properties in a hot state and form a dense protective oxide layer to effectively resist high-temperature corrosion.

With excellent mechanical strength, thermal stability and durability, Inconel is widely used in aerospace, energy, chemical and marine engineering fields.

Inconel 600

Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron solid solution strengthened alloy with excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance in high temperature environments. Its excellent heat resistance, high mechanical strength and stability to chemical media make it the first choice material under extreme working conditions. The alloy has good hot and cold working properties and excellent weldability. It exhibits high plasticity in environments below 700°C and can be further strengthened by cold deformation, making it suitable for various welding and brazing processes. Inconel 600 can operate at temperatures up to 1100°C in low-load oxidizing environments.

Both are nickel-chromium-iron solid solution alloys: 600 has higher nickel (≥72%), 601 has 58-63% nickel but mentions 21-25% chromium, and also adds 1.0-1.7% aluminum. 600 focuses on general high-temperature oxidation and corrosion resistance, high plasticity and easy forming below 700°C; 601 relies on aluminum to strengthen the oxide film, has better resistance to peeling, and is suitable for cyclic oxidation conditions. Choose one based on temperature and media type.

600 is resistant to high temperatures, oxidation, and chemical media. It is often used in heat treatment furnace components, chemical and petroleum equipment, and heat-resistant structural parts that require long-term stable service. The annealed tensile strength is about 550 N/mm², and the strength, plasticity, and processability are balanced. It is suitable for general-purpose high-temperature corrosion-resistant materials. Manufacturers can supply plates, rods, tubes, and wires.
